Development

Production
The chassis of the Volkswagen-Red Bull Racing Baja Touareg TDI has been produced by Arciero Miller Racing in Foothill Ranch, California.
Although Volkswagen had initially planned to introduce a range of hybrid models, including its vehicles entry level, the company stopped the plan for a hybrid low after the CEO of the company was changed to Martin Winterkorn. VW Touareg TDI race entered the 85th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with a Touareg V10 TDI V6 TDI Touareg, driven by Ryan Arciero, Mike Miller and Chris Blais. Arciero has won the race with time 13:17:703, and established a new division record for the fastest time with a diesel vehicle. Miller finished Second with a time of 13:25:247.
